Reducing dark spots? Discover which skincare helps

Reducing pigment spots: which skincare suits your skin?

Pigment spots can suddenly stand out, but they usually develop gradually. A spot on your cheek, a dark discoloration on your forehead, or a complexion that becomes less even. Sunlight plays a major role in this, but hormonal changes, skin aging, and previous skin irritations can also have an influence.

The good news is that you can do a lot with the right skincare to make your skin look more even and radiant. It’s not just about reducing existing pigment spots; it is just as important to protect your skin to help prevent new discolorations as much as possible.

In my webshop, you will find various options for this from Dr. Schrammek, DermaPrime, and Henriëtte Faroche. From intensive care for visible pigment spots to vitamin C and daily SPF.

What are pigment spots?

Pigment is produced by pigment cells in the skin and largely determines your skin tone. When more melanin is formed in certain areas, dark spots can appear.

Pigment spots can be related to, among other things:

  • Sun exposure and sun damage
  • Skin aging
  • Hormonal changes
  • Pregnancy and melasma
  • Spots after pimples or skin irritation
  • Hereditary predisposition

Sunlight, in particular, can make existing pigment spots darker. That is why you cannot really separate pigment care from good sun protection.

Reducing pigment spots starts with daily protection

You can use beautiful serums and creams, but if you do not sufficiently protect your skin against UV radiation in the meantime, you will continue to stimulate pigment production.

That is why I advise anyone with skin sensitive to pigment spots to use an SPF every morning. Not just during a beach holiday, but on ordinary days as well.

You can also be exposed to UVA radiation behind glass. If you work a lot behind a computer or other screens, your skin is also exposed to visible and blue light daily. The sun remains the most important light source. For pigment-sensitive skin, I therefore prefer to choose a complete daily care routine where antioxidants and sun protection have a permanent place.

Dr. Schrammek Mela White – targeted at pigment spots

Do you want to tackle pigment spots in a targeted way? Then the Dr. Schrammek Mela White line is the most specialized choice among the three brands.

This line focuses on skin with dark discolorations, sun spots, age spots, and an uneven complexion. Within the line, you can combine a serum, day care, and night care for a complete routine.

Brightening Active C Serum – intensive care for pigment spots

The Dr. Schrammek Brightening Active C Serum is an intensive vitamin C serum for skin with pigment spots, discolorations, and a dull or uneven complexion.

The serum helps the skin look brighter and supports a more even appearance. This makes it a great extra step when you want to target pigment spots and work on a fresh glow at the same time.

Brightening Day Fluid SPF 50 – day cream against pigment spots

During the day, it is not only important to treat existing pigment spots but, above all, to protect the skin against new discolorations.

The Dr. Schrammek Brightening Day Fluid SPF 50 combines daily pigment care with a high SPF 50. The light, mattifying texture absorbs quickly and does not feel heavy or greasy.

This day cream is especially suitable for skin with pigment spots, an uneven complexion, and increased sensitivity to discoloration. Because of the combination of daily care and high sun protection, this is, in my opinion, a very important step in a pigment routine.

Brightening Night Cream – care during the night

For the evening, there is the Dr. Schrammek Brightening Night Cream. During the night, the skin gets rest and the opportunity to recover.

This night care supports the treatment of pigment spots and helps the skin look more even, brighter, and more refined. By combining the night cream with the Active C Serum and the Brightening Day Fluid SPF 50, you create a complete morning and evening routine.

DermaPrime Ligne Vitamine C – for pigment spots and dull skin

Not every skin needs intensive pigment care. Sometimes I see skin that looks dull and tired, has become less even, and shows some pigment spots here and there.

The DermaPrime Ligne Vitamine C fits this well.

Vitamin C is an antioxidant and is widely used in skincare to give the skin a fresher, more even appearance. In addition, vitamin C supports collagen formation.

Crème Vitalité 24H

The DermaPrime Crème Vitalité 24H is especially interesting for tired, stressed, or dull skin that needs hydration, antioxidants, and daily care.

The formula, containing vitamin C and vitamin E, helps protect the skin against external influences and supports a fresh, well-cared-for appearance.

Vitamine C 24h Crème

A great base is the Henriëtte Faroche Vitamine C 24h Crème. This day and night cream combines vitamin C and vitamin E and helps the skin look cared for, fresh, and more even.

My choice: Henriëtte Faroche is a nice option if you want to get started with vitamin C in an accessible way and work on glow, an even complexion, and daily skincare at the same time.

Which SPF should you use for pigment spots?

For pigment spots, I find sun protection at least as important as the serum or cream you choose.

UV radiation can make existing pigment spots darker and stimulate new discolorations. That is why, as far as I am concerned, SPF belongs in your routine every morning if you are sensitive to pigment spots.

Henriëtte Faroche Soleil Intensif SPF 50

If you want high daily protection, the Henriëtte Faroche Soleil Intensif SPF 50 is a great option.

This face cream combines SPF 50 with moisturizing ingredients such as vitamin E, glycerin, and sodium hyaluronate. This protects the skin against UVA and UVB radiation while simultaneously supporting the skin’s moisture levels.

Henriëtte Faroche Intense Protecting SPF 30

Would you rather combine a daily nourishing cream with SPF? Then the Henriëtte Faroche Intense Protecting SPF 30 is interesting.

This day cream combines UVA and UVB protection with nourishing ingredients like shea butter and vitamin E.

Dr. Schrammek Solar+ Protect Fluid SPF 50+

Do you already use a day cream you are happy with and want to add high sun protection? Then the Dr. Schrammek Solar+ Protect Fluid SPF 50+ is a great choice.

This ultra-light SPF is applied as the final step over your daily skincare. This way, you don't have to replace your favorite cream to still choose high UVA and UVB protection.

Behind a screen a lot? Consider daily light protection too

Do you work a lot behind a computer, tablet, or phone? Then your skin is exposed to blue and visible light daily in addition to sunlight.

That does not mean a screen automatically causes pigment spots. However, light can form an extra burden for the skin. Especially when you are already sensitive to pigmentation, a good daily protection routine is wise.

An interesting option is the Dr. Schrammek Global Age Defense+ Cream SPF 30. This day cream combines SPF 30 with care that targets various daily light and environmental influences.

Which line should you choose for pigment spots?

Dr. Schrammek Mela White
For those who want to tackle existing pigment spots in a very targeted way and are looking for a complete day, night, and serum routine.

DermaPrime Vitamin C
For pigment spots in combination with tired, dull skin and the first signs of skin aging.

Henriëtte Faroche Vitamin C
For an accessible daily vitamin C routine for dull skin, pigment spots, and an uneven complexion.

No matter which line you choose: always combine pigment care during the day with good sun protection.

And what can a professional treatment do?

When home care alone is not enough, a professional skin treatment can be a great addition.

In my salon, I work with the Green Peel® Herbal Peelings by Dr. Schrammek, among other things. Depending on the skin condition, one could choose the Fresh Up, Energy, or the more intensive Classic treatment, for example.

Green Peel® stimulates skin renewal and can be used for certain forms of hyperpigmentation as part of a personalized treatment plan.

With pigment sensitivity, I always take a close look at the skin, the season, and the skincare you use at home. After more intensive skin treatments, good sun protection is extra important.

My most important advice for pigment spots

Pigment spots require patience and consistent use of the right products. Do not expect a dark discoloration to disappear after a few days.

Work step by step:

  1. Cleanse your skin gently.
  2. Use a targeted serum, for example, with vitamin C.
  3. Choose suitable day and night care.
  4. Use SPF 30 or 50 every morning.
  5. Keep up your routine consistently.

That specific combination of brightening, nourishing, and protecting makes all the difference.
